Operation Vs Medication Question

Subject: operation vs medication question

When taking oral meds for RCC, do you need to stop them for an operation? 

My doc is telling me I will need to be off my meds (Nexavar) for 2 or more weeks before & after, to have an abdominal hernia repaired, as an out patient.

Nexavar interferes with growth of new cells and will interfere with healing from surgery.  Your doctor is right that you will have to go off it just before and after surgery.
