After a few months of reeading all these various situations,it occurred to me these are all different cases.I had a GBM-IV,was `removed[as much as could be].After radiation,Temodar, and now  going on 5/23 program,i asked my ONCOLOGIST about "ZOFRAN" befor taking TEMODAR.THERE answer was"YOU HAVE NOT HAD ANY SIDE EFFECTS FROM IT,YOU DON't NEED IT.

I do realize each person is different, but some of this stuff on this site is misleading.

I am feeling great,but i have,from day one,except for tierdness.

Thanks for allowing me to air this, but i thought it should be said

Thank you for having your say.  It is so important to realize that there are so many variables.  The location of the tumor, the size, the kind are all things that make each one just a bit different.  The skill of the surgeon, the way you respond to treatments.  No two are ever exactly the same.

If you didn't take Zofran during the 42 day Temodar with radiation and had no nausea, then you obviously don't require it. What people here are giving you is customary protocol--all patients and physicians are different, just as where our tumors are/were located made our symptoms different. I think the suggestion to ask your doc about the zofran was a good one. We need to be armed with as much knowledge as possible, even if all of that knowledge doesn't directly apply to our situation.

I've been well, too, since my surgery, rads/temodar and 7 rounds of Avastin/CPT-11. But when I experience anything new as far as pain or possible side effects, this is the first place I come to. Keep up the good fight. Every well day is a blessing for all of us.

My mother-in-law had been prescribed Zofran also when they first put her on temodar. She only feels tired like you have said so she doesn't take it either. I say if you do well without it..why add another pill you have to take to the list? God bless~

I think situations also change and I think you should be prepared and have a perscription for some type of anti nausea medicine.  My dad did fine with the 42 day treatment of temodar but was vomiting for 3 hours straight on the first dose of 5/23 cycle of temodar.  It took two different pills before we got the Zofran and it works beautifully.  The Oncologist didn't think he was getting sick from the Chemo but they did an emergency MRI scan and the tumor is still stable. He does have slight nausea between treatments but it is only severe while on the chemo and the Zofran has prevented any further vomiting.

This message board is wonderful because you get to see how different each case is and your prepared for when somthing does happen.  I too wish their was more positive information but I'm guilty too, I only post or ask questions when somehting bad is happening.  When things are good I tend to focus on the good and almost forget my dad is still sick.

God Bless you all, ecspecially the patients you are true heroes for fighting the fight against it!!

Woztoo, I'm curious as to what you think is misleading?

As to the Zofran question - we were told that it is important to try and prevent nausea - that is is easier to prevent it than to get it under control if it starts.

Best to you,

Barb

Husband dx 4/07/07 with inoperable GBM IV.  Radiation & Temodar did not work. On Avastin / CPT-11 since 7/25/07 and results have been great.  Tumor shrunk considerably and all subsequent MRI's have been good.

Consider yourself lucky. I will always have issues in regards to my stomach because of the Temador. Things could be worse, beats the alternative. Better be ready for the 5/23 and I think your doctor is a jerk for telling you that. I am truly sorry that you feel mislead, although I am perplexed as to where those feelings are coming from.

Each of us has a unique experience, yet we all share a common thread.

If you do not require the Zofran the more power to you. Wish you well. God Bless.

Chris
