Hi Barabara,
I'm glad to hear from you!
My mother also had colon cancer stage 3 (adenocarcinoma). She was diagnosed with it in October 2004, had the "curative" operation in November and started the posttreatment (5FU and Leucovorin) in Dec. Just to be sure ...
After 8 treatments she developed fluid in both lungs and had to go to the hospital for drainage. She had also had that dry cough for a while, but she thought it was a harmless side effect that she had to live with during the therapy.
From the CT scan the doctors concluded that she had metastases in the liver - and diffuse signs of mets in both lungs. Therefore the chemotherapy was changed into Folfox4.
Recently another CT scan has shown that the chemo was actually making the metastases in the liver shrink, but that they had to stop the treatment because it was damaging her lungs.
She probably never had mets in the lungs, but that's what they thought at the moment.
She will bw seeing another doctor on Wednesday and hopefully start some kind of treatment soon!
My mother and I are going away for a few days thereafter, but I will certainly get back to you when I know more about it all!
I hope to hear from you as well.
Mette
