Hi, my name is edward. I had a kidney removed in october 2003. Tumours in the limph nodes did not grow for a couple of years and for the last 100 weeks i was on gw786034. Last week i was told the medication does not work anylonger but i was one of the lucky ones, because had success for such a long time. In nearly two years the tumours shrunk to 1/3, but now started growing again and i may be put onto suten. I was taking the chemo tablet once a day, my hair went white and sometimes i felt tired and moody, but apart from that i have been and i am ok. Hope suten will work for me. Now days there are many different medications in the market for trial. Seems to be these medications help you for a year or two and then you have to try something else because your body gets used to it. I just wanted to share my experience with other patients. Thanks for reading. Edward

Hi Edward,

What exactly is GW786034?  Any other name of this treatment?  Which pharmaceutical company?

My wife was on Sutent for over a year but it's now no longer effective so we're seeking other alternative treatment.

 Regards,
Petch

Hi, Petch

GW786034 is PAZOPANIB, a potent and selective multi-target medication which blocks tumour growth. I was on 600 mg on a trial in Australia. Some people had good results, some excellent results and some were not able to respond to treatment. If you have high blood pressure you can not be on the trial. Experiment started in North America, continued in Australia and now I believe they are experimenting in different parts of Europe. I was lucky because the medication was good for nearly two years, however there is no medication good enough forever. Seems to be there are 3 different methods at the moment and one of them is inyectable once a week.

Good luck! Thanks for answering

Ted, Edward
