Doxil Rash

Hi,

My mom has metasisized (sp?) breast cancer in her liver.

She is going for round 3 of Doxil next week.  She is doing really well, no hand/foot syndrome, her CA125 went from 320 to 130 and she is tolerating it all.  The only thing right now is she has a really bad rash on her chest, spreading to her shoulders that is extremely itchy. She showed it to her Dr. last visit and he said it was sun damage but I think otherwise, as it is getting worse.

Can anyone reccommend treatment for this rash?  She does not take hot showers or rub with towels.  She is 80 yrs old, God Bless her, and has such a great attitude, I'd like her to have some relief.

I too have had 3 rounds of doxil (3 weeks apart). Breast cancer in 2003 that spread to liver 2006. Doxil is my 3rd drug they tried. My doctor said the rash can show up wherever there is friction, like bra and panties. I too have the rash but mine is not as itchy as your moms. They told me the itch is due to dry skin the doxil can also produce blisters when bad. They told me to use bag balm or utter cream to keep the rash area moisturized. If the rash gets bad she will need a break from the doxil!

Thanks, I did tell her to get utterly smooth but the drugstore couldn't find it.  She told me last night it is turning into little blisters and there are some on her arms and legs.  Is bag balm an over the counter cream? For itching?

I sure hope the doxil helps you, it seems to be helping her.  Do you feel ok?  I will keep you in my prayers!

Cortizone cream works best if its that itchy. Make sure the blisters and rash is not shingles!
