Dear Praying Daughter,

Could not find Zolmeta on web sites.  Could you mean zometa?  If it is zometa that your father recieved, it is used to delay and reduce the numbers of skeletal events in patients with MM and also to reduce bone pain and harden the bones.  My husband takes zometa every 4 weeks.  He has not had much in the way of side effects except when the doctor gives it 3 weeks apart instead of 4 weeks apart.  When given 3 weeks apart, he feels like he has the flu for about 24 hours.  We finally insisted the treatments be every 4 weeks and he gets along okay.

If you want to read more about zometa, go to multiplemyeloma.org.  You can also put zometa versus multiple myeloma into google and get information.

Hope this helps.  Take Care.

Jan

I believe you mean Zometa, my wife receives this once per month. It helps strenghen the bones, since the MM can cause bone loss and fractures.

From Anna,

Hi Prayingdaughter, Dad has taken Zometa for years.  One thing to make you aware of or your folks.  Dad is now having what they call Dead Jaw. His jaw is getting hard along with the rest of his bones several of his teeth are loose and his had to have a couple of root canals. Not saying this will happen to your Dad but if he doesn't know this you might want to tell him.  There's nothing they can do about Dad's loose teeth.

 Your friend,

Anna
