I have spoken to a Tibethan doctor and he told me that they can stop the progression of mm for many years on the condition that the patient has not had chemo. I am completely ignorant of the alternative medicine but surely if it was that easy there would have been many more happy mm survivors...on the other hand, the doctor is certainly reputable and I personaly know a few of his success stories (not mm though). Any opinion?

Tough call. If you .. or the person with MM ... have not progressed that far with the disease it might be worth a try. You should be able to tell right away whether or not it is working, but that would also require getting the correct blood work done while receiving the alternative treatment.

Best regards,

I agree with Craig and also the power of the mind is huge in any illness and they are very into teaching us to heal ourselves.  I also would do a pure diet and lots of natural foods and vegetables. Yesterday in our online doctors letter he noted some interesting things:a subscriber wrote in that they could not afford much organic produce this was the reply:"The 12 dirtiest foods in fruit and vegetables are peaches, Apples, Sweet Bell Peppers, Celery, Nectarines, Strawberries, Cherries, Pears, Imported Grapes, Spinach, lettuce and potato" Dr R Rowan. I am presuming he meant sprays etc. He said use your $$ to Purchase these organically and buy the other fruits and vegetables from the regular produce.   I thought this was a savvy way to help make ends meet and stay healthy. mms

if you look into the following link ,you can imagine why this tibetian doctor/healermay have something to offer.

why would hospitals mention curcumin [turmeric]?

it seems to be below their "level".

the whole purpose of medicine is to help and to heal -with G-ds help- whereever and whenever one can........all the rest is proud,

try any simple method offered to you and use all that is scientifically also proven if it can save live.

i wish you a full recovery.

Fascinating, but I can't possibly answer this intelligently.

I am a Buddhist (Tibetan), so I am curious as to what they are prescribing in lieu of conventional alopathic therapy.

But on the other hand, we do have these new therapies that have been successful in many cases.

What a difficult decision to make.

Please let us all know what is decided and how it turns out.

And my best to you.

Mike

Well, there is not much we can decide as mom is having second round of chemo. however, the doctor gave her - something (plant+minerals+whatever) to help.... she will try it of course and if her mm is in check afterwards I honestly wouldn't care what did it:(

Multiple Myeloma is such a hard disease to get ahead of maybe they are listening to research. Maybe the doctor who did the post has had actual experience where it helped and is not afraid to say it.  It has been shown to be a helpful tool in MM and several studies have proved it.  You can't patent Curcumin so maybe that is why they are listing it...Anway we all have to find and do what helps the most...A curcumin user..mms.

Hi everyone!

I strongly recommend you to check-out the following link: http://margaret.healthblogs.org/

It's a blog (Margaret's corner) of an MM patient, an American leaving in Italy. She's doing an unbelievable research work on non-toxic natural and other supplements to stabilize the disease. And she's being stable for more than two years now with the Curcumin.

Best wishes!
