What Can We Do For Nausea After Chemo???

I would like to know what success any of you have had with treating nausea after chemo. We will try anything as my dad is really feeling sick.

Did your dad's onc prescribe any nausea meds? When mom was taking chemo she would make sure to stay on top of her meds. She took them on schedule if she needed them or not. Also she ate some saltine crackers and drank her diet 7up or diet sprite. Mom's cancer had spread to her adrenal glands so she ended up with diabetes. So she had to be careful on how many crackers she ate. If your dad doesn't have any anti-nausea meds then he should ask for them. If he does and they aren't working then he needs to ask for something else.

My mother battled nausea for quite a while.  Most of the medications she tried did not work for her.  We were told to have her take compazine regularly to keep it in her system, but I also had an accupuncturist come to the house.  We were able to get rid of the nausea completely.  I really believe that accupuncture can be a tremendous help for this.   Roz

Hi Candy, My husband suffered from severe nausea also during his chem. His oncologist prescribed compazine 10 mg. He takes it before getting into the car, before all meals and before his radiation treatments and it has helped tremendously. Please talk to you onc. for a rx and he will find what best works for your dad. Also my husband eats very small meals several times thru the day mostly soft foods such as pudding, apple sauce, jello, gatorade, mashed potatoes with gravy, scrambled eggs ect.
