Subject: Too ill for chemo???
Date: 04/14/2008
A friend of mine her 22 yr old daughter has had hodgkins for about 18 months. She has had 3 rounds of chemo and 1 round of radiation. She was getting prepped for stem cell transplant and could not have it due to active cancer. This time she can not stay well enough to get the chemo. She keeps getting infections after infections. She had a dangerous reaction to the last chemo with elevated BP's and Pulses. So now the tumors in her chest have grown larger than first diagnosed. She is on 100% oxygen via mask, can't breath, can't eat, delierious and confused. She is in ICU. she is now back on the chemo....... So for the last several months she gets a little chemo and then they stop it, a little chemo and then they stop it.??? I am losing my mind. Can anyone relate to this? Will she survivie?

Hello,

My 65 year old father has had Hodgkin's Lymphoma Stage III B since October 2006. He too has been too ill to receive regular chemo treatments. He has had serious infections. Arpil 1, 2008 he had his last chemo that resulted in sepsis. He has had complications from the chemo throughout his treatment. Yesterday, he made the decision to live life to the fullest and discontinue chemo. He does not want radiation either since the lymphoma is scattered in too many place throughout his chest and abdomen. I am now trying to prepare myself mentally to support him in his decision. It will be hard to see him go though the battle, but only he knows how he has suffered. I hope your friends daughter recovers to receive chemo.
