My 50 year old youngert sister suffered with an ear infection about three months ago. She then developed what was diagnosed as an infected submandibular salivary gland. After several rounds of antibiotics with no improvement her doctor scheduled a biopsy, which came back negative. Doctor then scheduled an MRI to see what was causing the blockage. He was looking for a stone and since there was none he scheduled surgery to remove the gland. My sister then decided to get a second opinion from another doctor who specializes in this surgery and all records were sent to him. When they got the MRI, new doctor called said he saw a mass and has now scheduled her to see an oncologist, My sister had breast cancer 6 years ago. How could a biopsy come back as an infection and then all of a sudden she is going to an oncologist. She has no other symptoms, is very active, in great physical shape although mentally she is on the edge. The salivary gland has been sore for a while. She saw a doc right away, yet now three months later they are telling her this?
