Can Anyone Please Help Me.....

Subject: Can anyone please help me.....

I have a very close friend that I have known all my life we grew up together and went to school together......Over the last three to four years everything that could go wrong has.......and to top it all off today he was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer...........He is retired and about three years ago he went through a divorce and his wife got the home and the retirement that they had invested in real estate.......he is destitute.......he has lived with me for the past two years and he and his son moved out the day after thanksgiving last year and things were looking up.....now this.....He has no insurrance ......He is a very proud man but now he has to be practical.......does anyone know of any type os assistance for someone is his position.......he has to go to a specialist to find out the next step.......and I suggested he go to the Social Security people and apply for Disability ......does anyone else have any suggestions if so please help him out and I will relay the info....and thanks in advance...........

I know your friends pride ! I too didn't have any health insurance for little over a year , I'm in a smal ltown  in Fl. but i went to the county health dept. where i got very good care and test done at no charge, also they were able to get me alot of my heart medicines at no charge . its worth your time to check into it ,dont for get you and your friend tax dollars pay for these public services .

My boyfriend has cancer and no insurance as well.  We did go to the county and got assistance that way. (Clark County in Las Vegas).  All of his treatments so far is covered.

We are in the process of trying to get Social Security/Disability and Medicaid.  The process normally takes six months but they do try to speed it up in cases of cancer.  But I urge you get your friend to hurry as it will still take close to two months to process his application.

I would highly recommend calling Hospice. We have a great Hospice where I live and couldn't imagine being without them. They have really been helpful in my struggle with stage 4 stomach cancer. Becky333
