Hi HeidiTony

My heart goes out to you and your husband.  I see that you just posted today - I understand your feelings of helplessness.  I have not had throat cancer but I am a two time survior - one of primary ovarian and one of primary lung. What I have found is that every one of us is different and responds differently to the same treatments. His treatments may not cause him the same pain as the next person may have - don't try to second guess until you get there - just be informed of what you can do to help him lessen his reactions or what you can ask your physician to do. His treatments will be something he will have to face one by one - help him to be informed by showing him articles you have researched - be informed - ask questions - look at some moderate homepathy supplements that may help with radiation burning etc. - only with the consent of your oncologist - let him be selfish and spend the next while through treatments looking after just himself - cry with him - laugh with him - and have faith and humour in your lives - as you know you will be fightling for his life! After his treatments tell him to lay low - he will not feel unwell in some instances and may want to be up and about - discourage him from this as his body will need the rest - find something that helps him relax - music - watching the ocean - looking at photos etc.  And you - try to take good care of yourself - this will be as hard on you as him - just in a different way - I will be praying for you and send the biggest and warmest hugs from afar - I will watch for your progress through the next few months.   Websitegranny

There are tonsil survivors on the main section of Head and Neck on this site.  They can provide you AWESOME advice.  Do a newbie posting and ask for what worked.  They are wonderful people.
