Oligodendroglioma

When my 38 year old son was diagnosed with brain tumor in 2004 one of his doctors said the average life expectancy for this type of tumor is 15 years. Of course, that gave me a great deal of hope. Fortunately, his tumor, although massive, was operable. Following that he had radiation and did very well for awhile. In December, 2006 he had a second surgery for recurrence. A few months later he was started on Temodar and had several courses of that. Unfortunately, the tumor turned aggressive and he went downhill quickly in 2007. We lost our big, lovable guy on October 3,2007. He was only 40 years old. I know I'll never get over his death but I've learned how to live with it and am trying to get on with my life. I was his caregiver throughout this nightmare so I do have some good memories as he was a very positive, upbeat guy, never letting his illness get in his way of living his life to the fullest.
