Long story short: I had papillary thyca in 9/01, had RAI 10/01. Recurrence 12/08. Neck Dissection 1/08. RAI on 4/11/08. I had it in pill form and have been horribly nauseated. I have no appetite, insomnia, I feel like I have the worst hangover. Tues, I was hit w/a horrible sore throat and lost my voice. It feels like I have strep, but I have gotten strep a lot before and my throat isn't even red. I know it will be over soon, but this is annoying! On top of that, waiting for my WBS results is killing me w/anxiety. I had it yesterday.
Anyone else?
Hi there. I had a round of RAI March 24th of this year and had a sore throat with it. I'm pretty sure that is a common side effect.
I too felt terribly nauseated and actually threw up the 2nd and third day first thing in the morning. I think that is sude effect too. I have 4 children and it has been very difficult to get through this.
I'm starting to think that this will take more time than I thought to feel "normal" again. The sore throat and nausea were gone the within about a week after RAI, so hopefully that will get better for you soon. Feel free to PM me if you just want to compare notes or talk to someone who understands first hand. Hang in there, I hope your scan comes back clean!!
