Also visit cyberknifesupport.org forum. Think you can do a search there for any posts referring to "proton" or "proton beam".

There are three or four doctor who regularly post at this forum, often in response to reader questions. I remember having seen some discussion of proton beam treatment option there.
Cyberknife is a newer, more precise way of delivering HDR Brachytherapy which has very good success rate for localized PCa. CK is noninvasive, in comparison to either LDR permanent seed implants or HDR Brachytherapy, as it uses a robotic delivery of the radiation in four or five treatments. Early reults are reported very good, and the thinking is incontinence and impotence side effects will be much lower rate of occurrence due to the robotic precision. Rectum wall and urethea areas can be deliberately and precisely avoided in targeting the radiation in the prostate gland, and the robot delivers the doses from many different angles to spare the skin from overdose.
I think CK uses the traditional x-ray radiation beams as compared to the proton type radiation beams.
