Keep the faith. It'll come back. Rest, try to eat well and get as much exercise as you can stand. Hang in there. You feel like &*%$ now, but you'll come back.

cancer treatments such as chemotherpy often lower white blood cell counts.  But our body produces or renews blood cells every one to three months.  Your counts will come up - it just takes alittle time

Does this mean "NO CHEMO" for that long???

My son is undergoing chemo for stomach cancer.  Occasionally his count goes low.  If it gets very low, they give him some injection and that brings it back up and he is able to continue with the chemo.  Sometimes they have to wait until it is back up to acceptable levels for them to continue.

The injections that boost the count are very expensive and insurance has to approve them.  You may want to ask your oncologist about that.

My levels were down and had to stop until they came up, but I only had to wait about a week. I also have had to reduced Temodar strength due to this (200mg). This is my second round on the reduced strength and will have an MRI on Wednesday to see how all is going. My other MRI's were good. Your onc. should have told you what the next step is when this happens. I'm sure they have you get another blood test soon and then start again. Let us know what comes of this for you.

God Bless,

Denise

Your are experiencing a normal side effect of chemotherapy.  If you would like to boost your immune system you might try Carlson Cod liver oil, epicor, and black strap molasses. They are all natural things that can help you recover faster. All the best. mms
