My sister is doing better. She gave us a good scare about a month ago. She started having verdigo again and migraines. She still sleeps a lot, but does get out to go eat lunch (she loves that). She shuffles her feet when she walks and she has to use a cane. She never recovered fully since surgery to be able to walk normally. She still has memory loss (her short term memory is gone really). Her speech never fully recovered either. I am pleased to say she is three years post diagnosis this month. Since she was having symptoms, the doctor took another MRI and it came back clear. We were surprised as it she seems to be worsening, but the clear MRI results put us at ease. So long as she can still go out and eat with her friends once in a while, even if its just for an hour, it gives us hope. The nurse told us that Arlene is a cancer survivor so far and that she is doing well under the circumstances. She was diagnosed with GBM IV in May 2005. We asked the nurse if we would ever get our sister back and the the nurse advised us to just show her love and understand that she will never be who she used to be again. But as of today, she is a cancer survivor.
