Subject: Alternative / Herbal Treatment Questions

A family member underwent the CyberKnife procedure over 12 months ago in which her pancreas was removed.  She endured the surgical procedure with ease. She had about 9 remission months in which she was feeling good with little fatigue or pain.  She takes her enzymes and her insulin regularly.

About 10 months ago, she started feeling fatigued and started experiencing abdominal pain. When she visited with her surgical and oncology teams, they discovered that the pancreatic cancer was back and there was s substantial amount of fluid that had cancerous cells. They tried chemotherapy and radiation for a few sessions.  She then had a chemotherapy vacation.  It was uncovered that the chemotherapy was not helping at all.  They opted to stop the therapies and prognosed her with 6-12 months to live.

I would like to try to investigate alternative therapies that she could try, such as herbal supplements, nutritional altercation, whole foods diet, etc.  Has anyone used herbs and naturopathic therapies to help slow advanced pancreatic carcinoma?  If so, what has worked?

I have read an array of different books and articles on this subject but each source seems to recommend something different, i.e. American Ginseng, Asian Ginseng, Green Tea, super foods with chlorea and spirlina, etc.

Can anyone suggest a specific regimen or a good book on this subject to give me better guidance?

Maybe embolization; my mom has neuroendocrine carcinoma of the pancreas and she is responding well to it up at Virginia Mason hospital in Seattle, Washington.  Her doc is Dr. Picozzi (not sure about the spelling) and he has the largest pancreatic cancer practice in the U.S.  The procedure cuts off the blood supply to the tumor.
