my husband had an ivor-lewis fashion esophagectomy in august of 2006 he was 59 at the time of his surgery. he was in good health except for a stricture that bothered him when he ate his food would get stuck and he would have to throw it up. he had dilitations for 10 years. before the docters decided to take another aproach. that is when he had the esophagectomy. we thought everything was going to be fine. have the surgery recurperate go back to work get on with our lives. boy was we wrong. he had to go back to the hospital several times. he had to have a blood transfusion. he got depressed. he had to have dilitions again. he losed 80lbls. he has gastroparsis now which is a big problem. he belches a lot. he had to retire from his job and i quit my job to take care of him. i really thought he was going to die.our lives have changed so much. if anyone has any information to help us i would really love to hear from you.
