Subject: Temodar dosage question
Date: 04/27/2008
My mother is now on her cycle of temodar.  Initially after her surgery she did the 42 days of temodar ( 120 mg) and the radiation.  She was told on Tuesday after a good MRI :) that she would be on temodar for a six month cycle.  The dosage is at 230 mg now.  She is only 125 pounds, does this sound typical to anyone?

Yes, I was on the same during radiation and then on 250mg which was recently lowered to 200mg. I don't know if weight has any bearing on the mgs because I weighed about 118 and was put on 250mg.  Hope this helps you.

God Bless,

Denise

I too am on 250 mg and am about 125 lbs. I am on 5 off 23. I was originally diagnosed and had resection in July 2005. GMB right frontal. I had recurrence in Feb 2008. I am taking this with avastin every two weeks. After one month the tumor was less than half the size. God Bless!

hi,

i am about 105 lbs and was on 300mg of temodar for the last 6 months.  my white and red counts have started getting a little low so they changed my dose to 230mgs.  i believe they determine the dosing by your body surface area.  that is why they get your height and weight.  best of luck!

The dosage of Temodar is calculated according to your weight. My fathers doctor always did it in front of us with his little calculator and of course I always double checked it(they are known to make many errors).

I hope that the care givers ask a lot of questions, and you should always have a pen and paper with you to record items the doctor tells you, also questions that you may have.

I purchased an organizer and I wrote everything down. It looks like a novel. I also let the doctor know from the start that I will be calling with questions and some days I did more than once. I had his cell phone, office, pager and e mail address. Remember, they work for you and it is about your loved ones life not the doctors.
