Need Help Hot Flashes So Bad Not Sleeping

hello all, i need  some advice , i had ovarian cancer , it was  called  adult granulosa cell tumor, not sure i spelled that right . any how  i am cancer free which is  great news. i am on arimidex, which causes hot flashes also  had  a complete hysterectomy, i have had hot flashes  so bad  i am not able to sleep at night . i cant get no sleep i was wondering if there was  any one  out there  that had the same problems if  so  wht if any thing  can  i tk im not on any estrigen replacemnt and cant be cause of the kinda cancer i had   any advice  would be good , ok and here goes question number 2 being that i dont have any overies i get real dry [vaginal] my  doctor says  use a  lub, i have tryed that but  either  dont like it or it dosent  work ,  i keep thinking there has to be  somthing out there to help me  somthing i am  missing   so i have just  started  to use  wht they call replens with out estergen  so im not sure yet  but if any one eles has any other surgestions id like to hear  about  them  thanks  so so much

I can relate, I sleep with a fan on me all the time, so i am cold then hot but i do get some sleep. Doc. said sleep aids but I don't like that feeling. KY gel  you'll get used to it its been a year for me but its still flustrating.

I am experiencing the same.  I had a double mastectomy and am now taking arimidex.  Hot flashes are a b.  They seem to be the worse at night.  I sleep under a ceiling fan at the highest level. (my poor husband).  I do take sleep aids.  I am taking Lunesta.  I like you do not like taking it but If I didn't I would not get any sleep and neither would my husband and there is no better feeling than getting a good night's sleep.  I also have been told that if I take my calcium pill before bed time it would relax me.  It does seem too.  KY gel has helped me with the dryness.  Good Luck

Hi - just read your message.  I had granulosa cell too, and my doctor has me on estrogen.  I read that you dont take estrogen due to the type of cancer....I'm confused and should I NOT be on estrogen?   I too had a total hyst.  Please advise!!  Thank you      SusieB
