Hi -

I may be wrong but I was told that MOST gynecological oncologists are surgeons - and do the surgery with the de-bulking - and that a medical oncologist is needed for follow-up and treatment. That was the way I went. My gynecological  oncologist dis consult with my medical oncologist though ( regarding any further surgeries, biopsies, etc).

Hope this helped some. Good luck to you.

Diane T.

Yes, I believe Diane T is correct. I have a medical oncologist following me after chemo and my gyn oncologist is in contact with him for any other surgeries. My sister, on the other hand has a gyn oncologist that follows her for everything, visits, chemo and follow up bloods in Fairfax, VA.Good luck to you. Irene
