Hi,

I am a fairly new diagnosed tumor patient, presurgery. I was curious if anyone has tried Chinese herbs and acupuncture. I have an appointment at the end of the month with my neurosurgeon to schedule crainiotomy, but I recently began seeing an herbalist who believes that she can help me. Curious if anyone out there has any experience with this. . . .

My wife saw a Chinese herbalist/acupuncturist/oncologist FOLLOWING surgery, radiation and chemo. He felt he could possibly help her with side effects and complications. I can't say we noticed any substantial improvement directly relating to the herbal mixture and visits, but it would be hard to tell for sure. This doctor was an actual oncologist, but not a neuro-oncologist. Our neuro-oncologist had a professional relationship to this doctor and was fine with what ever he gave my wife, because of an established trust factor. I would love to believe that this disease can be controlled by Chinese medicine, but I have my serious doubts. Explore all the options is a good idea before making a decision. Surgery as the first line of treatment is the accepted Western medical approach. Good luck to you.

I agree with you. The acupuncturist was honest and said he could not cure this, but could help with the nausea and vomiting. Even that was difficult to acheive.

The ginseng and astalgusĀ  helps with the fatigue andĀ  the medical journals state that you need about 1-2 gms to see benefit.

Hope this helps
