Torisel Aka Temsirolimus

Hi Everyone,

Just found the website and realise that some of you might like to know that at 80 my Mum has just completed 12 weeks of Torisel at 25mg.  We are about to go for the three month scan - fingers crossed.   Side effects not too bad all things considered.  

Hello Kemper, It is wonderful to hear of someone handling the side effects of Toricel.  I would be very interested in the scan results, as I am sure many others would. Please know I wish for great results, and please let us know. My husband started toricel this week.  thank you and good luck with the results. Laura

How your mom's CT scan go? My mom had 13 rounds of torisel and will be getting a PET/CT on monday. Minimal side effects 

Please pray for her. I hope your mom had good responses to the treatment.

This past Thursday, I just had my 5th Torisel treatment.
Last time they had to stick me 4 times before they found a vein. So next Thursday the 15th. I am having a port put in and then I am going for my Chemo. treatment right after it is installed. All the side effects that I did have are gone. The blisters in the mouth, I used Colgates Orabase for Canker and mouth sores. (CVS) and Benadryl for the blisters and itching on my feet. 
Another side effect that has turned up, I have not read about, but wonder if anyone else has experienced it. I have nodules turning up on my scalp.
They feel like small bumps all over. Good thing I still have my hair, which covers the bumps. (I just hope they don't spread to my face, or I might end up on the Science Fiction  Channel as one of those bumpy face monsters.
Has anyone had this side effect, or can it be something worse?
I did have a C Scan taken this morning of my abdomen/ pelvis/ chest and head. But will not know the results for a few days yet.
It is a Stage 4 Kidney Cancer that I have.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts and words of encouragement.  Just to give you an update Mum has been told that after twelve treatments of torisel the cancer is indicated as "stable".

The affected kidney is now dying and the doctor says that in effect this  could render that site harmless, while the amount of cancer on the adrenal glands has not grown in size between January and May.  This is good news indeed and Mum has been tolerating the drug quite well.  To be frank we had some grave reservations as to how well you could tolerate it at eighty.  The mouth sores do come and go and some have been nasty so the doctor has decided to reduce the dosage from 25 to 20mg.  

We live in hope and with prayer.
