I'm a newbie, hope someone can share their experience. My husband was diagnosed stage 3B in late Dec. He had surgery and is now undergoing chemo 5fu, oxiplatinum regime. 6 cycles down and  he has done fantastic, few side effects and able to continue his daily routine. This trip his liver enzymes were very elevated 800(?) and his chemo nurse mentioned that could be a sign of liver metastisis. We are both now in a panic. Could this not also be due to the strain on the liver. Anyone have any advice or counsel.

Thanks,

d

http://www.medhelp.org/forums/gastro/messages/38585.html&nbs Try this site - it has specific information on potential causes of liver enzymes that high.  Cancer was not one of them..

If that doesn't work google" liver enzymes over 800"    It should be the 1st site listed.

I'm about a month ahead of your husband and have IIIC. My liver enzymes elevate due to the oxalyplatin. So the decision is to give me the oxal every other treatment and inbetween my liver enzymes return to normal or near normal. This tells them that the damage is not permanent and is reversible. So we watch my levels for every chemo session and adjust the oxal accordingly.
