My niece, age 32, was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had a hysterectomy. They found that cells had moved beyond the uterine wall, I think, and they did a cat scan to see if there were cells in any organ. They found that there were lots of tiny spots in her lungs. Initially, they said it didn't look like lung cancer, but since she had cervical cancer they thought it was lung cancer. They also said they knew it wasn't the same cell type as her cervical cancer. They recommended radiation of the cervical / vaginal area, which she completed. Then they did a follow-up cat and said that the tiny spots looked nearly the same, but now they say typical lung cancer - she has 1 to 2 years. In order to do any further treatment they said they needed to know what cancer cells she has, so they did a lung biopsy last Tues. On Friday, they said wven with 20 specimens they didn't get one of the spotted tissue(s). So, they know nothing more. She has a 3 year old and a 1 year old and, needless to say, she's beside herself. She wants to do something. One other thing, she spent at least 5 years working in a "clean room" using chemicals. They wore "bunny suits" but later found out the suits were to protect the computer chips from the human contaminents, not to protect the humans from chemical contaninents. So, she wonders if the tiny spots might be damage from chem. Do any of you have any idea what she can do?
