Path For My 78 Year Old Mother/Please Help

About 6 weeks ago my 78 year old mother was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. Chemotherapy and debulking have been the recommended course of therapy for her. Her situation is somewhat different than most of you. Medically, she has been through a lot. Due to polycystic kidney disease, she had a kidney transplant in December 1995. Although her kidney is working beautifully today and doctors are recommending chemo even with the transplant, she is a bit tired of being a 'medical jock.' Nonetheless, doctors are predicting she will run into an obstructed bowel and die a painful death if she doesn't proceed. But chemotherapy might be grueling on her 100 pound 78 year old transplanted body. In addition, she lost my father, her husband of 56 years, to heart disease last year, so her 'joie de vivre' is a little weak. She'd like to live, of course, but what will become of her quality of life? SHE HAS NO IDEA WHAT TO DO AND IS LOOKING TO MY SISTER AND ME FOR ANSWERS. I know it wrong for me to seek input from all of you, but she wants desperately to follow the path of least resistance (least pain), but I don't know what to tell her.  My heart goes out to you and your sister with the difficult choices you are facing.  I am 54 yrs old and when I discovered I had ovarian cancer back in December one of my grown daughters dug out a book I had purchased some twenty years or more ago for myself and gave it to me once again to read.  This book is called "Health Through Gods Pharmacy" by Maria Treben and it provides some very sound herbal remedies for ovarian cancer which I believe would provide a more gentler treatment for your mother at this stage.  Because my cancer was only in the first stage and I am otherwise a sturdy person I decided to go the chemo route.  I am halfway through my chemo and I am finally breaking down and starting to wonder if I am up to going through too many more treatments.  So in your mother's case I would definitely spare her the pain and sickness which comes with this path.  God bless you all and have a wonder Mother's Day!

Anything you can get your head around is good.

I don't know where you live but just finished reading a scientific paper on Vitamic C (which I by the way take intravenously for my Ovarian Cancer)and read all I can to educate myself.

I got Dr Riordan's protocol for Vit C intravenous and use it religiously for 11 months 100g/1000ml over 5-6 hours 3 times a week.And my cancer did not move forward in 10 months!!! I also use another immunorespons treatment from Gemrany Helixor.

Right now anything is of great importance...chemo might destroy her only kidney but vitamin C might not!  Please do not give up...fight for your Mom if there was no tomorrow. Best of Luck,Elisa.
