Subject: cervical cancer now lots of tiny spots in lungs
Date: 05/05/2008

My niece is only 32 and had very early cervical cancer. She had a hysterectomy and the doctors thought cancer cells may have moved through the wall, so they did a cat. the cat showed a lot of tiny spots in her lungs. They wanted to do radiation (external first and then internal), which she's completed. Then she insisted on a follow-up cat and they said she has no cancer anywhere, but they think the tiny spots are cancer because of her having had cervical cancer. They say her case is baffling because she has no symptoms. They did a biopsy on the lungs before the radiation, but didn't get any of the spotted tissue. They just did another biopsy after the radiation and follow-up cat and with 25 specimens they STILL didn't get any tissue that showed cancer. They want her to just wait and see what happens. She has a 3 year old and a 1 year old and she CAN'T just wait and see. What is a VATS? We just don't know what to do next. They cannot do chemo because they have no confirmation that there is cancer or what cell types they are. Help, id you have any ideas!

Hello

I was very sorry to read that your relative has recently undergone treatment for cervical cancer.

I help a UK registered cervical cancer charity called Jo's Trust who operate a support forum and free medical panel at www.jotrust.co.uk.  Your neice would be very welcome to chat to other women on the forum who have been through similar treatment.  They are very welcoming and supportive of one another.  You could also put your questions to our professional medical panel who would be very pleased to offer you free advice.
