Subject: Questions after getting second opinion (kind of long..sorry)
Date: 05/07/2008
My mom was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in August 2007.  They did a pet scan and found a small spot on her left lung.  She underwent chemo and radiation which completely cleared her esophogus.  The small spot on her lung shrunk, but was still there in January.  In March 2008 she had a repeat pet and cat scan and the lung spot had grown in size.  No treatment was being done up to this time.  So anyway the first dr wanted to run all these tests and do another biopsy on the spot.  My mom decided to get a second opinion.  The second dr said something needed to be done now and showed her the pet scan of her lung and that she actually had 4 new spots. So when she asked the first dr why he wasn't doing something immediately he said he wanted to make sure the lung wasn't just a small infection.  The second dr said she should have been doing chemo and that a biopsy would cause more risk.  It's so stinking confusing.  So I'm basically asking what do u all think?? Any insight would help!!! Thank u!!

If it were me I would get a third Dr.  to look at me then if he too said I should have been treated by chemo then I wouldn't go back to first Dr. but  I would start treatment righ away.
