Hi everyone....I love the message  board...it gives me the insight to look at others opinions and thoughts on cancer.   I have for the 3rd time ovarian cancer and have beat it the first two times and now am doing the doxil treatment and see where that takes me.    My question is at this point, what do any of you think of taking vitamins to help with the immune system, blood levels and overall multi-vitamins?   I mentioned to my Dr. I was taking Super B Complex which my oncologist nurse sister in law said to do and he said I dont want to hear that......I asked him why and he repeated the same answer.   I will be more direct and expect a more sensible answer on my next visit.   What do you think out there?   Have you been told only a multi vitamin was all you needed, dont take vitamins, or what....really interested in any opinions and your findings and if you take them that you have seen improvements or cancer is in remission.   Will wait to hear as your thoughts are important to me and I too am looking for a miracle.

Dear Curly.

I would like to answer as simple as I can . ANY Doctors/Specialists  are not trained to speak about vitamins with their patients. They really do not know much about them. In their medical schools all over the country they only have  about 2 hours on vitamins(not enough to know lots about them). Big Pharma is the number one that sells!!  They want to make money instead play with something that does not bring them profit and can't be patented for big buck sells..

I take vitamins separately. Multivitamin is for lazy people I am not trying to hurt your feelings but make you understand that minute amounts of vitamins and minerals in one pill is not enough.

I was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer 2 years ago and instantly went to ORTHOMOLECULAR VITAMIN CENTRE for consultation and immediately orthomolecular specialist  put me on a strict regiment of vitamins and minerals. 75% of population is DEPLETED from vitamins especially Vitamin C, D,E and other minerals unless you eat strictly organic from your own garden.Produce from the stores is beautiful but sprayed with chemicals and that is why we are  getting sick .Overload of toxins in our bodies and lack of NUTRIENTS from the food.

Some people will argue this with me but I know for a fact because I am on lots of vitamins and minerals and I know who I was before I took them and who I am now. Before I had foggy mind, tired all the time, could not get out of bed and if I did I was groggy, could not concentrate could not remember a thing ..NOW I am a totally different person.HAPPY is the word and most of all unclogged mentally and physically..

I owe this to my Orthomolecular approach to life and change of diet.from everything fast way to poor man's food .I cook myself or my husband and we do not eat fancy prepared dinners  or use anything that is processed.

IT REALLY HELPS. Life is beautiful even with my cancer that I keep in check by using vitamin C intravenously and another natural medicine from Germany.

Take care Curly, Let me know what you think.Elisa.

Thanks for responding to my question on vitamins....I do agree Dr.s dont get into the vitamin thing which I find fault with if they want to save people's lives...they specialize only in their field and dont want to learn about the other life saving methods there might be and yes, politics and insurances and the whole nine yards have a big play in all of this....do you personally think your vitamin intake has helped you to keep going with your cancer as far as remission, if your in it, and have you been  told not to take it if you were doing chemo?   You said you were taking intravenous vitamin C...may I ask why intravenous.....is that your Dr.s idea?    Have you been thru all the chemo regiment and what did you have?   I started out the first two times with taxell and carbo...got neuorapathy in the feet enough to bother me and was clearing up in the 5mo. I was off taxell but now it has come back some so far with the doxil...hoping it wont get any worse but only time will tell.  I personally have done unbelievable with the chemo's given me except for the neuropathy altho it hasnt stopped me from doing anything....just tired my feet out more and I lost the two big toenails.   I like sharing my info with anyone who is willing to listen and share with me...we are all out there looking for hope and survival.   I live for the day and try not to think about my cancer as it is depressing but it's not forgotten as it is something I have to live with and find answers to so all of you out there, share with me....I take this information and use it for questions to my Dr. and see if it can be done for me if that can be the case....for instance I am going to go to a big hospital in L.A. to a gyn/oncologist whereas the Dr. I have now is not a surgeon and I have my questions ready....plus I have contacted the Ovarian Coaliton where there is support and survivors with plenty of guardian angels and God among them and they give me hope which we all need.   Curly66
