just got my pet scan yesterday so the results arent in but i asked what he thought he was going to do. he said

6-8 weeks carboplatinum/taxol/erbitux

2 weeks rest

8 weeks radiation plus carbo/taxol

4 weeks rest

surgery

But i am on tuberculocous medicine and with that recipe they give you steroids and he thinks they cant do that with the TB medicine.

So in that case it will be TPF taxotere/platinum/5fu

any info or experience or insight would be apreciated

thank you victor brown

Sorry, no insights or anything, but it sounds like your doc has a grip on things. All I can offer you right now is good wishes and prayers for a successful treatment and a full recovery.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Hi Victor,

my boyfriend was treated at dana farber in boston first with 9 weeks of cisplatin, taxotere, 5fu and erbitux...then 35 rad treatments with weekly carboplatin.  the erbitux was weekly the other 3 drugs every 3 weeks.

this was a clinical trial.  he had good results...unknown primary with a neary 7cm tumor that shrunk almost completely after induction chemo.  he had another tumor removed prior to diagnosis.

he is done treatment now and waiting for the next pet scan. it has been a tough road but we are expecting nothing less than a complete recovery!

all the best to you

Victor,

Sounds very similar to my treatment. Stage 4 Head and Neck in December. Only difference was I got the right radial neck dissection surgery and then the radiation. Almost done-just some booster radiation to get through. It's been a tough haul, but better days are ahead for both of us.

My advocate is 3.5 years past his head and neck cancer with no complications. My business partner has a neighbor that is across the street from him and he is 1 year past head and neck cancer and is gaining weight, walking the dog and getting out and driving.

Head and neck is treatable and beatable. It is one of the harshest treatments in my experience, but there is no other way at this point in medicine to deal with it.

You will get through it! Stay posted on these forums for great advice and shared stories.
