My father was diagnosed with NSLC lung cancer-adenocarcinoma-stage IV. They removed a small mass in his left lung (less than 2.4cmx2.1cm). Upon examination, they found a "dusting" effect of cancerous cells spread throughout his chest cavity including the pericardium, chest wall, and diaphragm. CAT and PET scans revealed no additional tumors in his body. The pathology report showed that the cancer was not found in lymph nodes removed from his chest.
Questions:
1. Has anyone on this board dealt with similar findings?
2. Could anyone provide or point me in the right direction of the questions I should address in our conversation with an oncologist?
3. I understand that Sloan and Mass General are two centers where there is a lot of genetic work being done on tumor receptivity to chemotheraphy treatment. Anyone have any specific experience with these treatment methods?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Brian
