Swollen abdoman and feet

My Dad has secondary liver cancer.  We havent had a CT scan in a few months, but recently his stomach and abdomon have become VERY swollen.  Does this mean he is getting worse?  He is no longer on any treatment besides natural ones.  Does his swollen stomach and feet mean that there's no turning back and that he is on the path to dying?

My dad's feet and stomach became swollen also.  I was told that it is from the liver failing to purify the blood and his body beginning to shut down.  He was given laxatives to help relaese some of the baked uo liquids.   My dad begged us to tell them to stop with the laxatives because it was painful to go to the bathroom every hour.  Unfortunately this also raises the potassium level whcih causes the heart to become damaged.  He was called to God only last week but he went with dignity.  Listen to what they want because it is all about their dignity and pride in the end.  Your family is in my prayers the end is hard to watch.

sorry about your dad's swollen stomach and feet. I know this is painful to watch because I had to watch my mother go through the same thing on mother's day. It hurts to watch our loved ones suffer and we are completly powerless over their pain. I just googled swollen feet and stomach and you came up. I think when the stomach and legs start to swell that it is a sign of liver failure as the last person said. Damm it's hard to sit and watch this day in and out. I don't want to loose my mom but, I don't want to see her suffer either. I'd rather see her resting in peace. My mom is in hospice so it shouldn't be much longer. My aunt told me today that I might mess around and she winds up arranging my funeral. Life is funny like that. I say all that to say only God knows when our time here is up. Stay living in the now! I am writing that to for you. But damm I didn't realize how much I needed to hear it. I guess the answers to our problems were there inside of us all along....

I so very sorry about your dad my mother in law is having the same effects in about 3-4 weeks she gained 15lbs. Not because of what she's eating, about 2 weeks ago they gave her ted stockings & this week we spoke toi the dr. & they have moved up her CT Scan to this week. By the end of the week we should know something. They say she may just need to have the fluid drained at the hospital. She was told in March that she had liver cancer.

Good luck & my prayers are with you & your family.Keep faith.

Well my mother in law went & had the CT scan. Yes it is water we went to the hospital & they drained off 5 liters of water & it's being sent to the lab to see if she has more cancer. We are told that this can return in a few days, weeks or never. BUT it was not to hard on her we went to the hospital & with in 3 hours she felt 90% better as well as 15 lbs less.

Good Luck & our Prayers are with you ALL

Since the last time I wrote my mother in law has had the fluid drained 3 times in less than 2 months 5.5 liters the 1st time 4.8 liters the 2nd time & now 8.6 liters the 3rd. they think not sure but believe it the Tarcivea(spelling not sure) so we will see shes getting read to have it drained again. Kepp the faith & hope my prayers are with you & your family.
