Dear Cancer Compass Friends, Many of us have come to know Margaret (aka "Stage4artist" ) and have grown to admire her strength, courage and faith. For those who do not know her "story", she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer almost 2 years ago.She had mets to her liver. She was given only 4 months to live; but thanks to her doctors, aggressive chemotherapy, and an unshakeble faith in the power of God, she's defied all the odds, fought the monster valiantly, and survived!
Like many of you, I met Margaret on this forum and have grown to love her spirit and wonderful sense of humor. Being an artist too, we share a lot of common ground. She's given many of us inspiration and a wonderful example of the kind of positive attitude it takes to defeat this disease.
Recently she located a doctor in her home state of Georgia and sought his 2nd opinion. Last week she finally had the surgery she's longed to have . Chemo had finally shrunk the tumor in her colon and that tumor was sucessfully removed. I believe the surgical "plan" also included removal of a portion of her liver. Then, following a suitable period of time to allow the liver to regenerate, the surgeon was planning to remove the rest of the diseased portion of her liver. Maragret's 1st surgery was "picture perfect".
However, the 2nd portion of the surgery is now on hold. She's developed a secondary problem and is now waging 2 wars simultaneously. Without betraying a confidence or divulging the nature of her "newest" battle, I feel that she would not mind if I ask each of you to include her in your prayers. She trusts in the mighty power of God and of prayer when we go to Him seeking comfort and strength. Please pray for these things on behalf of our friend, Margaret. Thank you. Angela
