Hi I'm 33 years old and have been dealing with precancerous cells for awhile now and i have had plenty of colposcopy, and biopsy's and freezing of my cervix's and i had a pap in march and it came back abnormal and sent me in for another biopsy and that came back inconclusive and now I'm going in for a cone biopsy on the 16th of may and this is the first time i have every had one of these or heard about them I'm scared to death, can someone please tell me do they do this for everyone or is it a precaution? and should i be worried?? thank you

Usually the cone biopsy is done to remove cells and dtermine how far into the tissue theygo. This could be the end of your treatment or it could determine you need further treatment. When I had mine done it was an outpatient procedure with anesthesia. I needed nothing more than motrin and rest when it was over. This is like any other biopsy - the doc needs to know more about what is going on in the tissue and this is the most effective way to do that. He may find that he has completely removed the cells or that you have more that require treatment. You will be fine - they will likely put you under, remove the cone shaped tissue, and bring you out of it. You'll feel some cramping and discomfort, but nothing too terrible. It sounds like you have lots of questions, so write them down and bring them to your doctor. You need to ask him or her to explain everything to you - what they are doing and why. If he or she will not take the time to do that, find someone else who will. Just like you demand answers from the guy fixing your car, you should demand the answers from the guy fixing you! Doctors forget that patients don't know this stuff like they do, so ask the questions, do research on-line, arm yourself with information. People forget that they are in charge of their bodies, not your doctors. You make the decisions. You will be dealing with this doctor a lot, if you cannot get information from him or don't like the way he is handling your case, find another physician!

Good luck! I'm praying for you!!!
