Subject: alternative treatments
Date: 05/14/2008
My father has been diagnosed with pseudomyxoma peritonei (stage 5) recently. The peritoneum apparently is covered with nodules and at his age (80), stripping of the peritoneum is not an option. It came as a major shock to all of us... apparently this kind of malignancy proliferates fast. We are all going thru emotional rollercoasters every day....why us kind. The fluid keeps accumulating in his abdomen and he has to be tapped off & on to drain it out. Has anyone had a positive experience with alternative therapies, particularly homeopathy?

Good morning virav77 I can't speak for your Dad's type of cancer but I do know of others (myself included) with a variety of cancers having successful outcomes using homeopathic and naturopathic medicines and protocols. A Google search for naturopaths/homeopaths/wellness clinics in your area could be helpful if you decide to go that route. Traditional doctors might consider their treatments too harsh for someone his age. Best wishes for a good outcome.

 HI Shemay,

Thanks fr yr reply. What kind of alternative medicine helped you?  We were looking at homeopathy and the doctor assured us that it wd increase the time span he has, apart from easing his discomfort by drying out the fluid. I want to so so believe him! But the practical side of me wants to know if it's possible. Have you tried homeopathy?

We have used homeopathy for symptoms, but not for the cancer per se, I have a book on treating cancer with homeopathy, but am not sure how many homeopaths actually have expertise in this particular area. Although we have self medicated homeopathically for years, I would not consider it with cancer and the high potencies you would be using, It does sound like there have been some results, and I considered trying to contact someone in Boston who has a great deal of knowledge in the field, but who is retired from practice, hence my hesitation. My nurse practitioner had been a student of hers and gave me a number to contact her about two years ago. Husband has been battling esophageal cancer for about 2 1/2 years and we use homeopathy frequently for the digestive discomforts that go along with it, with a lot less distress on his part. He uses very few meds unless he is actively treating.

There is a website that lists over 24 cancer alternatives, many of which have been tried by a lady cancer survivor.

She says the alternatives are the reason she is still alive today and calls it a success she was dying then alternatives changed all that.
