Hi

I am on Tamoxifen for 5 years. I am worried about the side effects. . I am particularly concerned about the risk of womb cancer. Having just been through breast cancer I do not want to increase my chances of getting womb cancer. My onc says the risk is very small and Tamoxifen will help precent breast cancer from returning.

 Any comments appreciated.

I had the same concerns before starting tamoxifen.  My gyn was very understanding and suggested that each year when I do my pap test that she actually biopsy my uterus to be sure there is no cancer.  It is painful, so she has me take one valium and one pain pill 30 minutes before my appt.  It worked fine and was just uncomfortable, but worth it to know that there is no sign of cancer.  Good luck.   Jenny

I've just started on Tamoxifen too. It can have positive side effects too. It has dampened my appetite it's made portion controll alot easier. So I've been loosing weight. A much needed thing. I haven't had any other side effects.

To me, I'm more  concerned about developing cancer in my remaining breast than I do about a rarer cancer. From what I understand, the tamoxifen displaces the estrogen from any cancer cell, and hopefully starve them to death.
