Thanks everybody for the  responses. I got a call yesteday and they said   that my PTH is less than 3 (basically not working) hence the calcium crash 2 weeks ago. THe doc cut my calcuim and calcitriol in 1/2 Tuesday thinking I was fine and then told me to go back on full amounts again yesterday.   Then I saw my Gyno for my yearly a couple of days ago and she wanted to get my tsh just for sh*ts and giggles and I'm 0.05. Now I know why I feel like such a spaz and my heart starts racing every time I walk from here to there. I'm hperthyroid now. I don't understand the point in being hyper and then stopping cytomel to become hypo. Anyone have a point of view on this one? Another question for the ladies. Was anyone been in menopause when they went through the surgery for Thyroid cancer? I was and now my blood tests say I'm not anymore.

Hi there. I think the point of the stupid Cytomel is just to get you by until RAI.  I don't think they want you to be hyper, that just happens to some people on Cytomel.  If you went the whole 6 weeks between surgery and Rai without Cytomel, you would feel soooooo bad.  Being hypo is no fun.  The only reason they use Cytomel is because it leaves you system fast so you only need to be off of it for 2 weeks to get hypo for RAI.  If you went on Levo it takes more like 6-8 weeks to get hypo enough for RAI.  After my WBS they put me on both thinking it would bring up my levels faster, so I could start feeling human again.  Well, that was a huge mistake!   I felt so Hyper I thought I was having a heart attack for a week straight, until I quit taking the Cytomel.  I can't help you w/ the menopause question (I am 30).  Maybe someone else can.    When is you RAI?

Thanks Skylog, I forgot about the fact that the cytomel leaves the system faster. They did put me on 100 mcg. Levothyroxine immediatly after my surgery then took me off 3 weeks later and put me on 50 mcg Cytomel until 2 weeks before my RAI which is in the middle of June. This sucks though. I feel so imcompetent at work and home. After going through this for so many years I will be ready to hopefully stablize.

I know what you mean.  I am so ready to feel like my old self again.  I am 4 months past the Rai and I am still working on getting my levels right.  About a month ago I had them checked and they were way off, so I was bumped up from .100 to .125, and have to wait 2 months to have them rechecked again, thats how long it taked to stabilize.  I am hoping they will bump me up again.  If I gain any more weight I think I will explode!!!!   I am so sick of it.  In July I have my 6 month scan.  If they tell me I have to hypo again I don't know what I will do.  I am hoping I will be able to get the thyrogen shots then.  Good to hear from you....Skylog
