Are there any restrictions at all about being around people after the tracer dose or just the larger dose? When is it ok to start preparing food for my family again after RAI without the risk of contamination

I was told by the nuclear dept of the hospital that there are no restrictions with tracer doses.  If you have a abilation dose, I was told not to prepare food for others for five days.  After that I was still very careful and wore gloves with raw food and washed my hands constantly.

I had my tracer dose yesterday and the Nuclear Medicine guy told me to not hold children and pretend I had a 3-foot bubble around me for adults for a couple of days..  No hugging or sharing a bed with anyone.  Just to be safe, I have decided not to go to my nephew's 7th birthday party on Saturday.  No one has really commented on when I can go off the LID, but I have learned from this message board that I should wait until after my WBS results.   I don't want to waste time going back on the diet and waiting for days if I have to have another surgery or a RAI again.   Just my method of thinking.   Tomorrow is my WBS..........yikes, I'm nervous because I have an aggressive, resistant cancer cell.  Prayers are appreciated!  Thanks, Tara

You all are SO AWESOME!  It means so much to me to read your well-wishes for me.   I keep you in my prayers, too.   Today I had my WBS.  The radiologist won't tell you anything because they want to send the report to the endo or oncologist and have them tell you.   The young tech who does my scans is very sweet and we hit it off last year when we first met.   She had the radiologist read the scan and she privately called me on my cell phone before I got home and told me "NO METASTASES!!!"   I have tall cell papillary and it is aggressive and can be resistant to treatment.  My lab showed what the endo called "activity" so when I hear from her next week, I'll try to find out more about.  THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT.  It is my obligation (and honor) to join this message board and continue elp others through my experiences.  It's not over----with tall cell, there is a 12-year period of no recurrences until you are considered "cured."   So, I'll be here for you guys!  My son is getting married next weekend, so it feels like 100 pounds was lifted from me.   xo Tara
