My Mom's headaches come & go in intensity.  In the big scheme of things they have never really gone away.  She takes a couple of Norco/day on most days.  If weaned off the Dexa too quickly, one can experience an increase in headaches.  If there's continued swelling & one is not on enough steroid, that can cause headaches.  It quite a balancing act.  At the most my mom was on 12-16mg Dexa/day.  It took 2 attempts to wean her off (resection was 10/07 with 6wks rad/Temodar) - she was finally steroid-free mid-March.  She had Gamma Knife last Tues. & because of some increased ataxia/extremity weakness, she's on 8mg/day.  The one thing we were watching for was steroid-induced myopathy (muscle weakness) with long-term steroid use.  The pain in the legs - is he on any sort of chemo?  After 2 rounds of Temodar, my mom has arthritic-like pain in the joints/muscles....

We learned much too late that my dad's headaches were a reaction to Keppra.  The doctors didn't think that could possibly be it, but they took Dad off the Keppra and athe headaches ceased immediately and never returned.

The pain in the legs might be blood clots.  Might want to have that looked into if not done already.
