Velcade

I have had a recurrance after 6 years and took Velcade.  I am in remission after 11 treatments.  I have a lot of side effects such as fatigue, tinnitus, tearing eyes, and rough skin in places.  My question is how long after completing the treatment do you get back to normal from these side effects.

I also have recently been prescribed Velcade for Mantle Cell Lymphoma following a recurrence. I was diagnosed in 2002 and subsequently received an autologous stem-cell transplant in 2003. Some recurrence in 2007 was treated with radiotherapy and thalidomide but this did not hold and I had a further recurrence late last year. I have just finished 12 courses of Velcade including Rituximab (Mabthera) and a recent scan showed that I am now in remission.

The side effects were pretty hard but the one that has left it's mark is Peripheral Neuropathy in my lower legs and feet. The consultants reckon that it might not disappear. However following a check on the web I found out that some people get relief from trying acupuncture. So I am currently trying this and it does seem to help me.

I WAS diagnosed with MCL on 3-1-07 and began initial therapy with R-Chop + Velcade from the onset in a clinical trial.  Velcade alone maintenance every 3 months.  Currently in remission but have CT PET scan coming up on July 9, 2008.  Bad neuropathy early on but off medication the past 3 months and no pain.
