Sometime over the last 6 months someone posted dosage used in a daily Temodar regimen. I can't find the post. Anyone have the info? Have any of you had experience with it... results?
Thanks much.
As far as I know, Temodar is dosed according to the patient's Body Mass Index, which is a calculation involving your height and weight. Different size people have different doses.
I have a T2, right parietal Oligodendroglioma. I also have genes 1p and 19q deleted which makes the tumor more chemo sensitive. So far, so good. I feel good, play golf, work and enjoy a few beers once in a while. I am going to be 59 next month. I have quarterly MRI's and they have shown stability both during, and after, treatment. I don't think the docs ever expected to shrink the tumor as much as stabilize it. Here I am 2+ years from the end of treatment and doing fine.
During treatment, I took 5 pills a day ( I don't remember the precise dosage of each) for 5 days. I also took a pill called Kytril for potential nausea, which I never had. I will tell you that on the first day of treatment, I could get the 5 pills down in about 5-10 minutes. By the 5th day, it was about 20-30 minutes. I'm sure it was just the psychological effect. I was then off for 23 days. Then I started over again. During the treatment, some people talk about fatigue but I don't think I had much other than just being 55+. That's fatigue enough. If I burped (excuse the expression) sometimes I thought that I could taste a little metal. What I had was constipation. I tried to drink a lot of water, take softeners, take a fiber supplement but it was still a pain in the ...(you get the message).
I'm sure you will be successful with your treatment. Lots of luck. Dr. Bernadine Healy, a cardiologist, former head of the American Red Cross, wife of the former CEO of the Cleveland Clinic, and fellow brain tumor patient has high praise for Temodar. That's good enough for me and I echo her remarks.
