Hi, I had a cone biopsy done 3 weeks ago & was put under anesthetic & kept a night in hospital, I was in so much pain that night that I was given hectic pain killers, my doctor told me they removed the entire lining of my cervix - is this normal? he told me not to use tampons or have sex. I was given antibiotics & pain killers. I left the hospital in a daze & was in pain for 2 days after & was so fragile that I couldnt move or slept properly. I bleed lightly for 2 weeks until last week, I flew on a trip & my bleeding increased on the flight to & back - is that normal? I had no pain. Howvever yesterday, I called my doctor & said the bleeding hasnt stopped in 3 weeks & was abit heavier the past week, he said I might have an infection - wat kind of infection I do not know? he gave me anothe doze of antibiotics, and a pill to stop the bleeding & anti-inflamotory & told me 2 take it for 5 days & call him back. 3 hrs later, I started gushing blood suddenly & masses of blood was falling out of me, I was scared to death & hysterical & I didnt know what was happening, blood was pouring out of me, my sister rushed me to an emergency room who wanted to  admit me but they gave me the same advice to take the pills my doctor recommended & observe over 5 days, I am scared to death that something is seriously wrong with me or something was done incorrectly.

A day after starting those meds, I am in very sensitive , I cannot sit up for long, my tummy is swollen & I am still bleeding.

Please can u help me with my concerns, is this a side effect? how many women go through this? wat should I do?

I dont wanna have to go in for a DNC or anything? I wanna still have children.

This sounds so terrible! I am so sorry you have been put through this. You are definitely having complications. This should not be happening to you. Have you spoken to your doctor, again? If he doesn't make the time to see you, please get a different doctor as soon as possible. Tragically, the current treatment for dysplasia is invasive and barbaric, so complications like this are always a risk. Your doctor should have called to check on you or had the nurse call you.

Something else that would help you is to see the lab report. In fact, you should get a copy of the lab report, anyway. It will not only tell you what you had, where it was located, how extensive it was, if it was in the endocervical canal, if the endocervical glands were involved, and whether or not you had clear margins, but it will also tell you how much was removed. That way, you'll have a clearer picture of what your doctor did. Also get a copy of the case report from ER.

In addition, I am getting the impression your doctor didn't have an indepth discussion with you about any of this. If he didn't, please fire him. Your life is too valuable, and you deserve a physician who wants you to be as educated as possible. It's okay to fire him, right now, and have your follow-up appointments taken over by a caring physian.

Thanks for the response & you are very right, my gynae very briefly explained the surgery to me. He never told me much , all he said was you have to have it done asap & that I did.

Gratefully, I have found another gynae closer to me who has checked me out & he said they did a good job on the biopsy & that I must have caused myself some trauma. but it felt more like I was some experiment & was butchered.

My new gynae actually told me some information that my previous gynae didnt , like the risks of falling pregnant & stuff.

Thankfully I am doing much better & thanks for the advice, I will make site I get a copy of the lap report so I can give it to my new physician.

I am still taking it easy & I so hope someday , I dont have complications having children.

Thanks

Colleen

I am so grateful you are doing better and hired a new GYN. Your ex-doctor was required to discuss the potential risks with you, before having you sign the paperwork, so I'm truly horrified!

I'm also glad you're getting copies of your lab reports for your own records. Information is definitely knowledge and power!
