Hello, I am new here. I was researching on this leep procedure and I ran into this site. Some great info I have found.

Well I have had HPV for about 4-5 years now. Did not think much of it. Then last year I had my 1st child. Healthy little camper. She is 4 months now. Well I had a boipsy during my first months and the results came back i guess in the CIN 1 phase. Well now 9 or so months later I am a CIN 2/3. Basically on the verge of becoming cancer at any moment. (Yet he says it progresses slow, I went from a 1 to a 2/3 in no time) They even wanted to move up my appointment which is next Friday to today. To bad I cant bc its my baby girls 4 month appoint 2day.

I just do not know what to expect. I am going into the office under local anesthesia, I am not being put to sleep. He told me I could resume normal excersise and activities the next day. Plus what should I expect?

thank so much

The procedure takes about 15-30 minutes.  It is fairly painless and simple.  Actually, it seems too easy for such a scary situation.....that's how I felt.  I almost felt, as if, we needed to do more because it seemed too quick and painless to get rid of such an ugly disease.  It really just shows you how well advanced they are in detecting and treating cervical cancer.  You are very lucky they caught this early on.  You do not ever have to advance to cancer if you are getting your regular paps and if it does advance, you should be able to catch it early enough to have it removed.

I just had this procedure done and I know someone else who cervical cells changed rapidly.  I found this procedure to be pretty painful.  I have a pretty high cervix so that is why.  It seemed to take forever also but the information they gave was the least helpful.  I had mine done last Thursday and as the days go by the discharge is getting heavier.  I feel like I have my period.  Worst is the emotional aspect.  I feel so bad and weepy, angry one moment and just sad the next.  I hope yours goes better.

I have stepped into this late, so have you already had the LEEP done? If not and you are nervous, please don't hesitate to have it done under general anesthesia. I have zero tolerance for pain, so I insisted on general anesthesia. I never trust doctors when they say something won't hurt. For me, it always does, so I refused to be awake for this. I also had somebody come with me; it makes all the difference in the world to have somebody who cares be there.

I would like to know the following, though.

1. Did you see the lab report?

2. Did you get an extensive explanation on what you have, where it's located, how extensive it is, if it's in the endocervical canal, if the endocervical glands are involved, and if you have any other infections?

3. Did you get a thorough discussion about the risks and benefits of all your options before the recommendation? This is a requirement.

If not, please don't hesitate to get a different doctor to take care of you, going forward. Your body deserves only good care.

In the meantime, if you already had the LEEP, I hope things went well for you, and I definitely hope for the best lab results! I also want to congratulate you on your baby girl.
