Hi Victor,

If it makes you feel any better, here is how my husbands journey started:

March 25th-Diagnosed; Pet Scan the following week, cant rember the exact day; April 7th- surgery to biopsy another spot on his vocal cords (that one actually came back negative though it had spread to other side of his neck); April 9th-loading dose of erbitux; April 10th-Surgery to have PEG tube placed; April 15th-First radiation treatment

As you can see our journey pretty much started in a blur.  I can tell you that it seems overwhelming but we tried to stay as positive as possible and I know its been said a gazillion times but take one day at a time.  Before you know it, it will be over and a new journey of recovery will be begin.

Hang in there and God Bless

At least they are doing something now. When I started treatment, it seemed like everything was moving WAY too fast and I felt like I had fallen into a river and was being swept away.

It seems like once they get going on the treatment, they really run with it.

Hang in there.

Best wishes,

Mike

I feel your rushing frustrations as my husband is in a clinical trial and they needed to do a dental consult and some how it slipped through the cracks and when they did it, it was too late to pull his teeth as you are on a tight time frame with a clin trial. They decided that they would do it after his surgery wich was a very intense neck disection and a peg and trache were put in. Two weeks later they thought that they would be able to pull his teeth with just novicain. WRONG. So he went in today to have 7 molars extracted and has not healed completely from the neck disection  so he is very sore. At least they are getting yours in the begining. Be patient and know that they do know what they are doing and sometimes things happen for a reason and in God's timing all things work for the good.

And they would say we a waiting to get you a pet scan. took them 5 weeks to get me a pet scan  I got one 20 minute appointment with surgical oncologist 8 weeks ago and one 20 minute appointment with medical oncologist 2 weeks ago thats it.

I understand your concern and pain. In my case, I had the teeth extraction on a Friday and chemo began on the following Tuesday which was pure hell. I too felt rushed and really wish there had been a solution that space the pain out a bit more. 5 months past and it is still rough recovering from radiation. Fight on and it will get better eventually. The body is capable of withstanding a lot of abuse. Just get the right nutrition to help yourself heal. One Love
