Has anybody pursued a lawsuit when they thought that their or their loved ones cancer was caused by outside agents?

My father who was diagnosed with lung cancer with mets to bone has asbestoes in his lungs.  I have contacted an attorney and I will see where that takes us.

Normally, I am not the type to sue but if when my father dies my mother will have nothing except for a mortgage that she cannot afford to pay.  I just want her to be able to pay off the mortgage.

I would never do something like this for myself but I know my mother is worrying about what will happen after my father dies.

I'm sure there are people that have lawsuits being filed with companies that have products that have caused Cancer. I know the oncologist said my husbands Renal Cell Cancer was caused by the work he performed. He was a Carpet Mechanic and they never wore mask or gloves. I would love to find out if I was able to file a suit. They doctor said because of the abestos? (spelling)?? in the padding, carpet, tiles, etc he developed Kidney Cancer. He never smoke or drank, ate healthy. We lost him August 2007. My sister said I should look into this, but I don't know if I have the energy but I should look into it. Maybe it would prevent another person from  developing this terrible disease. Maybe being that I have some time this weekend I will do some research. People do not know how much chemicals are in Carpet and Carpet Padding.

If I can find any info I will post it.

Best wishes

Hi Tracy,

I would definitely seek legal representation. If your father worked in a warehouse or any building that has asbestos. He or your mother might be entitled to something.Maybe even having the company pay for his treatments and medical expensive. Get as much information as you can about your father diagnoses and call lawyers that specialize in that field. The internet in a case like that would be your best friend. Hope this helps a bit.

Hi Tracy,

You definitely have grounds for a suit for the asbestos.  My Dad died from it and before he passed away he also filed a suit against the companies he had worked for.  Problem is most of the companies are out of business now.  But there has been some positive results over the past few years  It does take a long time for the suit to be handled.

There are attorneys that specialize in this.  One is Peter Angeles in Baltimore, Maryland.  I'm sure there is one in your area as well.  If the company is still in business, you have a good chance of winning provided you have the medical documentation and it sounds like you have.  I would definitely pursue.
