My brother has been fighting colon cancer for the last 3 years. He has had surgeries ( colon and liver) and chemo. At this date the cancer is in the rectum, lung, liver, lymph nodes, and abdomen. He was referred to USC Hospital where he is now undergoing clinical trials. The first trial did not help with a 25% growth. He did not qualify for the next study which would have been a treatment to overcome cancer cells resistent to chemo. He said it was good news that his enzymes were not high enough, bad that he did not qualify. He his preparing for the next trial treatment, but must wean off of pain meds he had only taken for a week or so. A book titled "Beating Cancer With Nutrition" by Patrick Quillin was recommended and when I emailed the author he recommended an Immunologist near where my brother lives in So. CA. My brother has an appointment with this doctor, and I hope that he can get some guidance, perhaps a good diet protocol for the upcoming treatment????? I was wondering if anyone can comment on the nutrition aspect for colon cancer. I seem to find that there is conflicting opinions on antioxidants for patients undergoing chemo. I am also hoping that my brother is receiving the best treatment he can. I have seen commercials for Cancer Treatment Centers of America. I know commercials are not the most reliable route for information. Has anyone been there? I did see that the book's author,Patrick Quillin, did his work there at one time. Thank you
