Nov. 2008, the day for Thanks giving my mother was diagnosed with  stage 4 lung cancer.  Scans showe that it was also in here bones.   She started chemo right away.  The first treatment failed.  So did second. She had gotten really depressed.  They put  it her Terceva in Feb 2008 and it seems to be working. had  She had another scan and it had shrunk the tumors!  That news and her sister from California coming over really helped her. She started complaining of headaches and the doctor said it was the tumor at the top of her spine shrinking.  So now she does Radiation 2x a day.  Friday May 22, 2008 3:30am , My father rusher her to the emergancy because of rectal pain.  The gave her pain meds and sent her on her way.  From the hospital my dad took her to radiation appt.  and the doctor did a scan and they found tumor in her colon.  The docs are do not understand how this was missed on all her other scans.  She is now getting radiation there also 2x a day.

This is really making her feel really discouraged and wants to just give up.  She sleeps all day and night and does not eat.  The booked a European cruise last year  for June 2008 and they are still going.  I really hopes this help her.

Does anyone know if Tarceva help with the colon cancer also?

Has anyone gone through anything similar?  I am sorry if I am rambling but I want to do what ever I can to help her.

I am so sorry to hear about your mom and I WILL pray for her. I am 42 - healthy - never smoked and found out 5 months ago I have stage 4 lung cancer!? I started Tarceva immediately and now it's practically gone! I'm not in the same boat as your mom, but all I can say is that it worked wonders with me and I am hoping it will help your mom also.

Lots of prayers and trying to keep her spirit up will do more than you can imagine. Good luck to her ~

Hi,

Radiation can cause tremendous fatigue, as well as affect taste and appetite.  Try to get your mother to eat, even if it's small amounts more frequently.  My mother lived on Boost Plus for a long time.   Roz

thank you,    She battled Breast cancer 18 years ago and beat it.  So, it very hard to see go through this again.    She had really bad cough for several months maybe even a year.  The doctors just thought it was allergies  because like you she is a non-smoker.   I am so glad that the tarceva is working for you.  I have read nothing but good things about this drug.   I will do what I can to keep my mom positive about everything.  I am sure this trip will help her and my father.  My prayers are with you also.

Thank you and God Bless You!

Melinda
