I've had a chronic cough since my surgery 5 weeks ago and it has gradually gotten worse. It's to the point that it makes me gag so bad in the early mornings that I have to throw up. I'm scared. I will be telling my doctor/surgeon on Wed. when I go to see him. It doesn't cause me any pain, it's just annoying and now that it's making me get sick. It's just water and some plemgh that comes up.

Please find out if GERD can do it? Some times anasthesia  can do it. Good luck with your visit.

Please do mention it to your doctor.  He will want to rule out a lung blood clot among other things.  The fact that you just had surgery warrants a bit more concern for this.  It can usually be treated quite effectively with medications.  Of course it may just be a simple cough for whatever reason- check it out and be safe!
