Subject: Fever and cough after stopping sutent

Hi,

My dad has been a patient of RCC with metastats in his lungs. He has taken 4 cycles of sutent , which he stopped after he couldnt take the side effects any longer,15 days back. For the past 2-1/2 months he is having pleural effusin in his left lung, which needs to be tapped every 10-15 days.

After stopping sutent, he is constant having fever ranging between 100 to 101.5 F and severe coughing. He has been on antibiotics for the past 4 days, but this has been of no help as yet.

Has anybody experienced something similar, what can be the cause and how to correct it.

Thanks

My father was Dx with RCC with mets to the lungs in April. We just started the sutent about 3 weeks ago. He has constant plueral effusions. He just got out of the hospital on sat. He had pnuemonia(not sure if I spelled that right) High blood prussure due to Sutent and plueral effusion..  Just like your Dad it seems to come back and needs to be drained every ten days or so.

I am not sure why it happens. Call the doctor and have them check him out.

Take care
